Become a sponsor

Giving to charity is, by its very nature, an act of kindness and generosity, but sometimes the experience can feel a little impersonal. Becoming a sponsor for a Tibetan school child, university student or elderly person can be an immensely rewarding undertaking, that gives you the opportunity to make a very personal connection with a refugee who needs your help.

From small beginnings back in the 1970s, Tibet Relief Fund’s Sponsorship Programme has grown into one of our core activities.

In the early days, we targeted assistance on offering crisis assistance to poor and destitute children and families arriving from Tibet. We quickly realised that providing youngsters with an education should be a key goal.

£50 provides a child’s education in day school for 1 year
£200 provides education and accommodation for a child at boarding school

As our sponsorship programme has developed, we have been able to help older children realise their dreams of going to university. We now also support monks and nuns in their Buddhist studies.

£425 provides a university student scholarship for 1 year
£200 supports a monk or nun in their continuing Buddhist studies

Since 2006 we have extended the programme to include the care of those elderly Tibetans who struggle to survive the hardships of daily life. We now provide grants for food, residential care and medical costs.

£200 covers vital medical and care costs for an elderly Tibetan for 1 year

Tibet Relief Fund supporters currently sponsor 1,300 schoolchildren, students, monks, nuns and elderly people – please consider joining them and becoming a sponsor today!
