Painting the Plateau in Monmouth (photos and video)

Last weekend saw Tibetans across the world commemorate their 1959 uprising against the Chinese occupation. To coincide with this and help raise awareness of Tibet, we brought our Painting the Plateau exhibition to Monmouth in south Wales.

People loved the paintings of Tibetan dress from the different regions and it was wonderful to meet so many new supporters from the local community in Monmouth. The free Sorig Tibetan herbal tea went down particularly well!

Tibet Support Group Monmouth also organised a fantastic Evening in Tibet on the Saturday, which was completely sold out with around 60 people attending.

“Land of Snows” by Margaret Iggulden, a local author, was performed by some very talented actors from the Savoy Youth Theatre, and really brought the history of Tibet to life.

Overall, it was a very successful weekend and we look forward to bringing the exhibition to Chipping Norton in May. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a success – and especially to Fay Butler, Margaret Iggulden and Pam Manfield for all their hard work.
