Tibet Matters Annual Review: Rebuilding is underway in Bakhang! (Video)

Grant Amount: £32,089

The residents of Bakhang village are now well on the way to rebuilding their primary school, thanks to all of you who have donated.

The foundations for the new school building have now been completed and the villagers have been trained to produce compressed earth bricks using a special machine (which will remain in the village permanently). They are now busy making all of the bricks needed for the school!

Next step…

Next, the villagers will learn to rebuild the school using earthquake-resistant techniques. This not only creates a safe school building but leaves the villagers with skills they can use to help re-build the rest of the village.

Special thanks

Our special thanks to Ann Davey, Mark Bloom of Komodo, Julian Dunkerton, Roy Welford and Gary Heads for the generous donations and fundraising to rebuild Bakhang School.

We still need to raise just over £15,000 to complete the rebuilding of Bakhang School.
