Tibet Relief Fund Summer Exhibition – Tashi Lhunpo Monks

We are delighted to invite you to a very special FREE event being held by Tibet Relief Fund; the creation of a peace mandala by monks from the Tashi Lhunpo monastery in south India along with an exhibition of photos of monastic life.

On Friday, two of the Tashi Lhunpo monks will be creating a peace sand mandala; on Saturday they will be joined by a further four monks to complete the mandala and then, in a traditional ritual, destroy it in the nearby canal.

These activities will be complemented by the exhibition of photos by Geoff Harris who recently travelled to the monastery and spent a week photographing the Tibetan Buddhist monks and their activities. His shots paint a vivid picture of monastic life; debating sessions, cooking and Losar celebrations are just a few activities highlighted.

This is an event not to be missed!

The exhibition and mandala will be open from 10am – 5pm on Friday 31st July and 12pm – 4pm on Saturday 1st August. The monks will destroy the mandala around 3.30pm on Saturday. There will also be a stall showcasing Tibetan handicrafts and CDs by the monks.

The event is being held at the Hive – a fantastic community space across the road from our office that demonstrates how empty buildings can be used creatively for the benefit of the local community.

Address: The Hive, 260-264 Kingsland Road, London E8 4DG

I hope we will see you there; please do forward this invitation on to your friends and family. If you have any questions please email [email protected] or call 020 3119 0041.
