A Day of Joy and Togetherness
Ngoenga School is a residential school in India for Tibetan children with disabilities living in exile. On the morning of 15 October 2025, children and staff gathered with a sense of excitement that filled the air long before the journey began.
The annual school picnic is one of the most anticipated days of the year, and this time the destination was Fun & Food Kingdom in Dehradun — a place full of colour, movement and adventure.
Arrival at Fun & Food Kingdom
On arrival, the atmosphere felt instantly alive. Bright colours, water, music and movement welcomed the group into a day that felt far removed from routine.
The children moved between rides and open spaces with excitement and curiosity, deciding together what to try first and encouraging one another along the way. There was a sense of freedom in simply being together, exploring, laughing and discovering the space at their own pace.
Laughter, Water and Shared Moments
As the water rides began, the park filled with laughter and splashes. Music played, and children and staff joined together in moments of dance and play. There was joy not just in the activities themselves, but in being part of them together.
In the swimming pool, children supported one another with confidence and care, turning play into shared experience and connection.
"The air was filled with laughter and joyous shouts as the children had fun."

A Shared Meal and a Pause in the Day
After hours of activity, everyone gathered for lunch. The pause brought calm after the energy of the morning, with children sitting together, sharing food and conversation.
Time moved quickly, and before long the day began to draw to a close. A group photograph captured the moment — smiles, tiredness, and happiness all held together in one frame.
The Journey Home
On the way back, the journey took an unexpected turn. A bridge collapse caused by recent heavy rains led to road diversions and a long delay in traffic.
Even as the buses waited on the road for over an hour, the children remained patient and calm. Songs continued, conversations carried on, and the sense of togetherness stayed strong until the very end of the journey.
We finally returned safely to school in the evening, tired but carrying the memory of a full and joyful day.
What Stayed With Us
The picnic was more than a day of fun. It was a shared experience of joy, care and connection — a reminder of how important it is for children to have space to laugh, play and simply be together.
