Our current programmes

Tibetan communities in India and Nepal continue to live in exile, where access to education, healthcare, and daily support can be limited—particularly for those most vulnerable.

Our approach has evolved over more than 65 years of working alongside Tibetan communities in exile in India and Nepal. As Tibetan communities continue to navigate the challenges of displacement, language, cultural and religious preservation, and building opportunities for future generations, our role has been to support locally identified priorities and strengthen community resilience.

Rather than focusing on a single area of need, we work with communities to address the challenges they face at different stages of life and development. This means investing in education, healthcare, disability support, care for older people, youth development, livelihoods and cultural preservation, while also responding to practical community needs such as water supplies, sanitation, building repairs, infrastructure improvements, medical equipment, community facilities and sustainable agriculture.

Over the years, we have helped fund schools, libraries, health centres, elderly homes, water systems, ambulances, vocational training initiatives and many smaller community-led projects. Many of these programmes also play an important role in helping communities maintain Tibetan language, culture and traditions, ensuring that knowledge and heritage can be passed from one generation to the next.

Our work is guided by local knowledge and long-term relationships. By partnering with Tibetan organisations, settlement leaders and community groups, we are able to respond flexibly to emerging needs while strengthening the resilience, self-reliance and cultural continuity of Tibetan communities living in exile.
